Excursions in Southern and Eastern Tanzania
Boat Safaris - This is the perfect way to explore the Selous and Saadani and gives you a totally different perspective on wildlife and the wild natural surroundings from inside a boat!

In the Selous, boat safaris can be arranged on Lake Tagalala and in Saadani on the Wami River. In both these environs, because the lake and river are freshwater, you find numerous mammals,
birds and reptiles - hippo, crocodiles, spoonbill and yellow bill stork even flying fish (Selous)!
These permanent water sources are great places to watch and wait whilst an entire hierachy of wildlife come to the
water's edge for a long drink - elephant, buffalo, monkeys, giraffe, antelope, even the big cats!
A boat safari is also perfect for birdwatching - simply cut off the motor and glide and observe
numerous avian species flock to the waters edge - bright feathered kingfishers and shrikes, storks and
egrets, ibis and pelicans and so many more species.
Get up close to crocodiles lying on the bank or in the water, and hippopotami wallowing or grunting.

Walking Safaris - Get out of the vehicle and
explore on foot this amazing landscape. Walking Safaris tend to begin early in the morning (sunrise) or late evening (sunset)
when the day is cool and the air crisp. Always accompanied by a guide and armed ranger, you get to experience true Africa
by using all your 5 senses - watch out for movements in the grass or startled zebra, listen for sounds of the jungle
and identify different bird calls, smell and taste the crisp, slightly dusty air and touch the bark or leaves of medicinal plants
that your guide will show you - (even elephants have their herbal remedies in the bush!)
Learn to track animals - watch out for the spoor and paw-prints of different wildlife
which says a lot about them - when they last walked past this spot, what they ate, which way they went, etc.
We can organise walking safaris in the Selous, certain parts of Ruaha and Saadani. Contact us for details
